Chamber Marks 125 Years at Annual Celebration
One of the most exciting aspects of our Cartersville-Bartow County Chamber of Commerce to me is when we celebrate our annual accomplishments. We do this through our Annual Celebration which is a combination of highlighting our past year’s successes as well as looking to our vision for the next 12 months. 2014 is no exception. However, 2014 is also a milestone for our Chamber of Commerce: it will be the 125th Anniversary of our charter as a Chamber of Commerce.
The first Charter for the Chamber of Commerce was issued by the Bartow Superior Court on July 13, 1889. Those petitioning the creation of the Chamber at that time were J.A. Stover, E. Strickland, R.G. Mays, W.C. Baker, J.P. Jones, R.W. Satterfield, and J.R. Wikle. These gentlemen were visionary leaders of our community. They placed an emphasis on businesses serving each other. Their desire was to shape a business atmosphere that would sustain through the years.
On Saturday, January 11, 2014, our Annual Celebration will be held at the Tellus Science Museum. Our Chairman of the Board, Wayne Moore, along with the Annual Celebration Committee, have planned an evening filled with enlightenment on our successes, celebration of our present membership and our vision for future.
I encourage all of our Chamber Members to mark this date down and purchase your tickets. Tickets are now on sale at the Chamber Office (770) 382-1466. Individual tickets are $60 and a table of 8 is $600.00. Our Membership Reception starts at 5:00pm followed by the dinner at 6:00pm. The evening at the Tellus is so enjoyable that along with your dinner and celebration, you will have the opportunity to visit the Planetarium and Observatory.
I invite all of our Chamber Members to attend our Annual Celebration. I am excited that we are showcasing our Chamber heritage as well as enjoy the evening with our Chamber family.
