Makers in Georgia Parks – a Red Top Mountain Makers Festival opening the future to many more.

    Hello Makers,

A short introduction, my name is Diane Burgoon and I serve as an AmeriCorps Ranger with Georgia State Parks. I would like to invite you to participate in the first Georgia State Parks Maker Festival at Red Top Mountain State Park on Saturday May 21. This Maker festival will be primarily an outdoor venue to be held at Red Top Mountain’s Park Offices where there is plenty of parking, a Discovery Room and a large terrace overlooking an event field. As a rain contingency there is limited space at the park office center.

The theme of the Festival is “Makers Get Outdoors”.

Examples of potential maker participants are: art bike/cars exhibits, artisan jewelry, fiber artists, black smiths, leather working, copper and silver smiths, wood workers, 3D printer innovators, map making, craftsman, technical makers, art innovators, homesteaders, artisans and many other maker-performers.

Regarding fee structures at the state park, there will be a percent of profits, not to exceed 15% of gross revenue charged to each vendor.

Makers in Georgia Parks, we hope will become a recurring festival in the Georgia State Parks.

Please read the following for the details for the upcoming
Makers in Georgia Parks - A Premier Makers Festival, on May 21st, 2016
    • The festival application/submission for vendor’s deadline is April 7th.
    • The Park manager has agreed to a percent of profits fee structure, not to exceed 15% of gross revenue for each vendor.
    • Your maker friends are welcome to participate - please forward this information on.
    • So far we have a jeweler, bat box builders, apple cider makers, screen printers, heritage seed sharing thru paper making, and corn doll making vendors signed up for this 1st time Makers Fare at Red Top.
    • That evening Red Top Mountain State Park will also be hosting a Blue Grass Festival at the Vaughan Cabin. The cabin is on the same grounds where our festival will be held. Bluegrass at the Cabin is well attended and should help to attract visitors that day.
If you would like to attend the festival as a vendor, please compete the following two forms and return them to me: Georgia State Parks Booth Application and the Makers Festival Event Application (pages 2 and 3) .
