    Job Summary

     

    This position is responsible for researching, planning, and executing effective strategies and programs. These strategies and programs will lead to enhanced retention and student success for students from populations and/or courses that would benefit from additional academic support as identified in institutional data sets.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    • Coordinates with AVPARR, faculty and Learning Support Coordinator to meet supplemental instructional needs and reports on enrollment and retention data.

    • Manages, supervises, trains and reports on the college's Early Alert System.

    • Monitors individual student academic advancement on an ongoing basis and connects students with intervention support services thought the use of early intervention processes.

    • Communicates with faculty and staff to develop and maintain academic support programs that assure student success.

    • Works with AVPARR and academic support services, college staff, and faculty to develop and implement retention initiatives and services.

    • Develops and implements as appropriate peer coaching models, mentoring models, and learning communities for future programming.

    • Collaborates with faculty and staff across campus to develop retention initiatives utilizing academic support services.

    • Serves on/chairs committees as necessary.

    • Communicates with faculty and staff as retention programming and academic support services are developed and aligned.

    • Communicates effectively in a professional, tactful, and courteous manner with students, employees, faculty, and the general public.

    • Ensures that all activities are conducted within the established College policies, FERPA guidelines and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education.

    • Performs assigned responsibilities, other related duties, and tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards safely and with minimal supervision.

     

    Required Qualifications

     

    • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of an associate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field

    • Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for one (1) year

    • Equivalent Combination of Experience and/or Education of two (2) years

    • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

     

    Proposed Salary

     

    $19.23 per hour

    • Knowledge of college and department policies, procedures, and practices with the ability to answer work related questions;

    • Knowledge of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and other applicable laws pertaining to employment and education;

    • Ability to present materials effectively to individual students or groups;

    • Working knowledge of ADA regulations with regards to making referrals and providing necessary accommodations.

    • Ability to plan, organize and implement assigned responsibilities and to work well under pressure to meet deadlines;

    • Ability to participate as a team member

    • Ability to understand and interpret rules and regulations

    • Ability to adjust to change

    • Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports

    • Ability to handle confidential material judiciously

    • Ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions

    • Skills in organizing, analyzing, and planning
