One of the most important predictors of high school graduation is reading proficiency in THIRD grade. Before then, students are learning to read. After third-grade, students are reading to learn. The Read to Grow initiative pairs volunteers with first- and second-grade students to provide additional reading practice.

We need YOU, our community members, to support students who are struggling with foundational reading skills. If you can spend an hour a week (ideally) in one of our schools, you can make a difference in a child’s future.  No experience is necessary, just attend a training to get started.

    TRAINING DATES:
    8/5 at 6:00 pm
    8/10 at 10:00 am
    8/12 at 6:00 pm
    8/17 at 10:00 am

Training will be held at the Bartow County College and Career Academy, 738 Grassdale Road, Cartersville.  You do not need to register, just show up – and bring friends!  We will cover everything you need to know in about an hour.  You choose the school you would like to visit and the day of the week most convenient for you. Most reading times are in the morning, but there is some availability in early afternoon.

If you have any questions please feel free to call Kristy Mitchell at 770-606-5800, ext. 2043.  We look forward to you joining our team!
