    STATE BOARD OF WORKERS’ COMPENSATION
    2019 REGIONAL EDUCATIONAL SERIES

    The Honorable Frank R. McKay, Chairman of the State Board of Workers’ Compensation, along with Board Directors, Honorable Benjamin J. Vinson and Honorable Terry H. Chastain, and Executive Director Delece A. Brooks, will visit select cities throughout Georgia as part of the 2019 Regional Educational Series. Under their leadership, the Board will host five seminars providing valuable information for those impacted by the Georgia workers’ compensation system including employers, self-insureds, human resource and risk managers, claims adjusters, rehabilitation specialists, medical service providers, workers’ compensation attorneys, paralegals and other system participants.

    The 2019 program will include presentations regarding recent developments in legislation, Board Rules, and case law along with ICMS II and EDI updates. A panel with claimants’ and defense counsel and employer/insurer representatives will discuss ways to save costs by using safety programs, investigation, the Posted Panel, defenses to claims such as willful misconduct, idiopathic and egress and ingress, and difficult injuries such as repetitive motion, stress, and aggravation of pre-existing conditions. A second panel willful address expedited medical treatment, return to suitable work, supervening and superadded injuries, change in condition, and settlement. Finally, the seminar will encourage lively audience participation in a script writing competition regarding various workers’ compensation scenes, issues, and facts to prevail before the Administrative Law Judge and earn a chance to win the coveted “Y’allywood” award.

    This activity has been submitted to AAOHN for approval to award contact hours. “AAOHN is accredited as an approver of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.”

    In addition, applications have been submitted for approval for the following hours: Legal (CLE); CCMC/CDMSC/CRCC; Insurance Agents/Adjusters (GA); and Human Resources (HRCI).
