Bartow History Museum Evening Lecture
Rowland Springs Resort
On Thursday, June 27, 2013 at 7:00 p.m., Bartow History Museum welcomes guest speaker and historian, Richard Wright, who will discuss the history of Rowland Springs Resort, once located off Georgia Highway 20 in the Rowland Springs area.
Rowland Springs got its name from Major John S. Rowland, who came to Cass County from Rutherford, North Carolina in 1839. In 1843, he acquired 2000 acres about six miles east of Cartersville which he developed into a summer resort. Prior to the Civil War, this resort was one of the finest and most popular in the state- not only because of its beauty, but the medicinal properties of its spring water. It was not uncommon for the Governor and Mrs. Joseph E. Brown to visit Rowland Springs Resort. The resort closed around 1925.
This Evening Lecture will take place at the Bartow History Museum located at
4 E. Church Street in downtown Cartersville. Parking is available next to the building. The lecture is free to members and included with the price of admission for not-yet members.
