Records and Resources at the Bartow History Museum Archives

Each year, October is recognized as "Archives Month" by the Society of Georgia Archivists as a way to celebrate the value of Georgia’s historical records, publicize the many ways historical records enrich our lives, and recognize those who maintain our communities’ historical records. The Bartow History Museum archives was selected as this year’s Spotlight Institution by the Georgia Archives Month committee.  Along with this recognition, the Bartow History Museum will receive statewide publicity through the SGA membership and marketing network, as well as a grant for local outreach.

On Wednesday, October 17, 2012 from noon until 1:00 p.m., Sandy Moore and Trey Gaines will present a special lunch and learn program on the resources and materials available in the archives at the BHM.  They will discuss various types of historic records, how and why they are important to preserve, and how these materials can be utilized by the public for a variety of purposes.  A behind the scenes tour of the archives will be offered following the presentation.
