THIS YEAR, YOU CAN CATCH A PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE WHILE ENJOYING HEAVY METAL IN MOTION! Stop by the Observatory from 11 AM – 3 PM to catch a glimpse of an annular solar eclipse through our solar telescope! The Tellus Store will have special viewing glasses available for purchase. Remember to never look at the Sun without specialized eye protection designed for solar viewing.
Big machines are back at Tellus for one of our most popular fall events – Heavy Metal in Motion! It’s a day to see helicopters land, hear the roar of engines and the sirens of fire engines, get your photo next to huge construction equipment, and much more. And with most machines, kids of all ages can climb into them for photo ops. There’s something for everyone – big rigs, military vehicles, educational kid’s activities, a sale in the Store, geode cracking, and a special cookout-style menu in our outdoor Café. So hold on to your hats when helicopters land and cover your ears when the big rigs crank their motors, because it’s a day of steel, wheels, heavy machines, and fun!
