During the Night Sky program, Cadettes will work toward the requirements of the Night Owl badge, while Senior girls will do activities for the Sky badge. While at Tellus, girls will tour the night sky in the planetarium and investigate eclipses, seasons and seasonal constellations. Scouts will learn how to make and use a rotary star chart, find the major constellations, and find planet positions in the Tellus planetarium. Other activities will include learning how to tell time using the sky, learning how to use a telescope and viewing sunspots (weather permitting). Program will consist of 3 rotations 50 minutes each, 50 scouts per group. Groups A and B Live Planetarium show 50 min. (100 scouts) Group A: Star wheel activity in big theater – 50 min. (50 scouts) Group B (50 scouts): – Moon Phase Activity in Lab 4 – 25 min. (25 scouts) – Solar observation/ or power point images if cloudy in Lab 3 – 25 min.
