Join us for the second hike of the Bartow County Library System's hiking society, There & Back Again! Early to mid-November brings beautiful fall colors to our trees here in NW Georgia. Join us this month for a hike through the forest and up to the highest point in Cartersville on Pine Mountain Trail to appreciate nature's colors and the changing of the seasons. We will meet at the Pine Mountain Trail parking area on Thursday, November 15 at 3:30 pm. We can catch the beginnings of the sunset as we reach the summit! *Please be aware that, depending on your experience level, this hike could be difficult because of significant elevation gain on the way up the mountain. Depending on the source, this hike is rated moderate to strenuous. Since we will be hiking in the evening, it is important that all group members stay together.* Details: The sun sets at about 5:30 pm in mid-November, and it will start getting dark around 6:00 pm. We will need to be at our cars before dark! Parking: Free at the trail head! Length: 1.57 miles (West Loop) Difficulty: Moderate to strenuous, depending on experience. The Cartersville City websites describes Pine Mtn. as "a rugged and challenging hike that reaches 1,562 feet above sea level."
