About MS and the National Multiple Sclerosis Society-Georgia Chapter
Multiple Sclerosis interrupts the flow of information from the brain to the body and stops people from moving. Symptoms range from numbness and tingling to blindness and paralysis. The progress, severity and specific symptoms of MS in any one person cannot yet be predicted, but advances in research and treatment are moving us closer to a world free of MS. MS affects more than 9,000 people in Georgia, over 400,000 people in the U.S., and 2.5 million worldwide.

The Georgia Chapter assists clients locally by providing direct financial assistance, respite care, self-help groups and peer counseling, community information and referrals, education, publications, and recreational and social programs. The chapter also conducts in-service training for healthcare professionals to advance their knowledge of MS.
