Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing, developing, coordinating, and implementation of all athletic and recreational programs.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: The Program Manager assigns work in terms of very general instructions. Work is reviewed for the nature and propriety of results.
GUIDELINES: Guidelines include Georgia Recreation and Parks Association (GRPA), National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA), City ordinances and departmental policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection and interpretation in application.
COMPLEXITY: The work consists of varied recreation and administrative duties.
SCOPE AND EFFECT: The purpose of this position is to plan, implement and coordinate athletic/recreation programs for community residents. Successful performance helps ensure the provision of recreation programs to the community and enhances the public image of the department.
PERSONAL CONTACTS: Contacts are typically with co-workers, instructors, volunteers, representatives of community organizations, program participants and their parents, coaches, media representatives and the general public.
PURPOSE OF CONTACTS: Contacts are typically to give and exchange information, resolve problems, motivate others and provide services.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work is performed while sitting, standing, walking, bending, crouching or stooping. The employee must lift light and heavy objects occasionally.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment is performed indoors and outdoor work where the employee is exposed to noise, dust, dirt, machinery with moving parts, heat and cold or inclement weather. The work may require the use of protective devices such as masks, goggles or gloves.

Job Summary: This position is responsible for overseeing, developing, coordinating, and implementation of all athletic and recreational programs.
Major Duties:
- Plans, coordinates, and supervises in-house programming including but not limited to, leagues and tournaments for all age groups
- Responsible for developing practice and game schedules for league and tournaments
- Responsible for coordinating with athletic associations and special interest groups regarding Parks and Recreation Programming
- Assist in overseeing Program Providers, scheduling, and bringing a wide variety of Programming opportunities to the Department
- Responsible for principles, practices, and methods used in Parks and Recreation
- Responsible for maintaining program equipment
- Responsible for coordinating scorekeepers, officials, and any other Part-Time personnel needed for Programming
- Responsible for communication with the public in regard to Programming; developing flyers, handouts, brochures, and other aspects for marketing purposes of recreational programs
- Assist with development and implementation of new Programming
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills/ Qualifications:
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of various sporting activities and games.
- Basic knowledge of computers and software
- Knowledge of Parks and Recreation programs and facilities
- Knowledge of departmental and city policies
- Certification for CYSA and CPR/First Aid/AED
- Skills in coordinating staff and working with volunteers
- Time management skills
- Maintain active membership in Georgia Recreation & Parks Association (GRPA)
Minimum qualifications:
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship.
- Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of Georgia for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.
