    Job Description
    Key Responsibilities
    • Develop, maintain, and manage cost accounting systems — including job costing per batch or unit, and BOM accuracy.
    • Perform monthly, quarterly, and project-level variance analysis of job costs (actual vs estimated), pinpointing material, labor, and overhead deviations; deliver actionable reporting to plant leadership and finance.
    • Manage cost allocations for labor, overhead, and shared resources across jobs, departments, and production lines to ensure accurate job costing and financial reporting.

    • Drive updates to BOMs and job routings in alignment with engineering and production changes.
    • Collaborate cross-functionally with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain to align costing methodology and resolve cost issues in real time.
    • Assist in month-end and year-end close activities—journal entry preparation, COGS analysis, inventory valuations, audit support.
    • Ensure compliance with accounting standards, GAAP, and internal controls/SOX frameworks.

    Minimum Qualifications
    • 10+ years of cost accounting experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment that requires discrete job or project costing (not just process costing).
    • Hands-on use of an ERP system—Epicor experience strongly preferred, especially in modules related to manufacturing/job costing.
    • Deep understanding of manufacturing cost flows: direct materials, labor, variable & fixed overhead allocation, inventory valuation.
    • Demonstrated experience managing standard cost systems and BOM updates.
    • Strong Excel skills (lookups, pivot tables, modeling); comfort working with large data sets.
    • BA/BS in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CMA certification is a plus.
    • Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, ability to work under tight deadlines, and communicate findings to non-financial stakeholders.
    Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience in commercial HVAC or similar discrete-batch production, with familiarity of unique cost drivers such as materials, sub-assemblies, warranty provisions.
    • Experience leading or improving cycle count programs and inventory variance investigations.
    • Experience in month-end cost reconciliations and internal/external audit support.
    • Experience with Epicor manufacturing modules: Material Requirements Planning (MRP), Job Costing, BOM management.
What You Bring to the Table
    • A history of driving cost-saving initiatives and improving costing accuracy.
    • The ability to swim through data but come up with practical recommendations.
    • Collaboration skills—you'll be translating financial insights into operations decisions.
