SUMMARY: Work with families enrolled in the home visiting program helping caregivers gain knowledge of positive parenting principles to increase the overall health and well-being within the family
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Engage families in parenting sessions in a positive, respectful manner
- Perform family needs assessments, parental screens, create a case plan, and guide parents through the program
- Implement evidence-based parenting curriculum and life skills to teach parenting skills
- Enter data into electronic database
- Maintain attendance records of parent education classes, and thorough case notes.
- Maintain contact summaries of all interactions with parents, other professionals, and staff
- Ensure a high standard of ethics by providing family confidentiality
- Provide referrals to other agencies for their families as needed
- Work collaboratively with other agencies to enhance services to families
- Attend training relating to professional growth
- Maintain knowledge of current parent education practices
- Participate fully as a team member in direct service and indirect service
- Must be willing to work in the homes of clients
- Must have a valid driver’s license and less than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
- Must use personal vehicle for home visitation and client transportation
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management
- Demonstrate a commitment to PQI and attend meetings as required
- Demonstrates passion for the mission of Advocates for Children and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives through active participation in related programs, training, and advocacy efforts
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- This job has no supervisory responsibilities
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Possess a bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, sociology or a related field or have at least 2 years’ experience working with families and children
- Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen
- Must have a valid Driver’s license and current insurance
- Proficient written and oral skills
- Must be familiar with the community and community support agencies
- Knowledge of child development and effective parenting techniques
- Must exhibit a willingness to assist in the personal development of low-income families
- Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the families and program
- Working hours must be flexible to accommodate work in the evening and occasional weekends
- Ability to communicate in native language(s) of program recipients is preferred
