    Job Description

    SUMMARY: Work with families enrolled in the home visiting program helping caregivers gain knowledge of positive parenting principles to increase the overall health and well-being within the family

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Engage families in parenting sessions in a positive, respectful manner
    • Perform family needs assessments, parental screens, create a case plan, and guide parents through the program
    • Implement evidence-based parenting curriculum and life skills to teach parenting skills
    • Enter data into electronic database
    • Maintain attendance records of parent education classes, and thorough case notes.
    • Maintain contact summaries of all interactions with parents, other professionals, and staff
    • Ensure a high standard of ethics by providing family confidentiality
    • Provide referrals to other agencies for their families as needed
    • Work collaboratively with other agencies to enhance services to families
    • Attend training relating to professional growth
    • Maintain knowledge of current parent education practices
    • Participate fully as a team member in direct service and indirect service
    • Must be willing to work in the homes of clients
    • Must have a valid driver’s license and less than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years
    • Must use personal vehicle for home visitation and client transportation
    • Performs other related duties as assigned by management
    • Demonstrate a commitment to PQI and attend meetings as required
    • Demonstrates passion for the mission of Advocates for Children and commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) initiatives through active participation in related programs, training, and advocacy efforts

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • This job has no supervisory responsibilities

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Possess a bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, sociology or a related field or have at least 2 years’ experience working with families and children
    • Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screen
    • Must have a valid Driver’s license and current insurance
    • Proficient written and oral skills
    • Must be familiar with the community and community support agencies
    • Knowledge of child development and effective parenting techniques
    • Must exhibit a willingness to assist in the personal development of low-income families
    • Must be flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the families and program
    • Working hours must be flexible to accommodate work in the evening and occasional weekends
    • Ability to communicate in native language(s) of program recipients is preferred
