Shorter University, a NCAA Division II institution which competes in Conference Carolinas, is currently accepting applicants for the position of Assistant Softball Coach- Pitching Coach. This position will be responsible for assisting the Head Softball Coach with sport specific coaching, Student-Athlete development, providing spiritual development for student-athletes, evaluating and recruiting prospective student-athletes, budget management, and overall administrative duties. This position will report to the Head Softball Coach. All activities shall be conducted within the policies and resource framework of the University, the Athletics Department, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA.
Qualifications:
Previous experience in high school or university softball as a coach and/or player.
A person guided by high morals and character that exemplifies their Christian beliefs in their everyday walk.
Bachelor’s degree required.
Job Summary: The Assistant Softball Coach assists the Head Softball Coach with all aspects of the softball program, including game preparation, practices, recruiting, and monitoring the academic progress of student athletes.
Job Duties:
· Assists the head coach in managing and directing the softball program.
· Assists the head softball coach with all aspects of the team including training, competing, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
· Prepares pitching workouts and teaches pitching mechanics.
· Coordinates travel arrangements.
· Creates scouting reports/ film management
· Organizes and completes all required paperwork including but not limited to assisting with managing the softball budget through efficient inventory control, monitoring expenses, and entering requisitions to obtain purchase orders.
· Assists the administration with alumni relations and fundraising.
· Commits to and is responsible for adhering to all rules and regulations set forth for the team, the University, Conference Carolinas, and the NCAA with the utmost integrity.
· Assists with recruiting including calling prospective student-athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, and maintaining accurate records.
· Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletics department and the university, attends department meetings and activities, and always represents the University positively when interacting with the community, alumni, high school and club coaches, media, and the general public.
· Supports overall student-athlete well-being including physically, mentally, and spiritually.
· Completes other assigned administrative duties.
· Strive to maintain a national top-level softball program that will bring pride to the Shorter University family and friends.
