IRON ORDER MOTORCYCLE CLUB RIDE RAISES $11,000 FOR SUMMER ACTIVITIES OF ADVOCATES’ CHILDREN

    CARTERSVILLE, GA-JUNE 20TH
: The 7th Annual Advocates’ Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter Ride held Saturday, June 7th, 2014 and hosted by the Iron Order Motorcycle Club raised over $11,000 for the summer activities of children at the Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter.

The event kicked off with a breakfast and registration at the Children’s Shelter.  Over 100 kickstands went up at 11:00am for a scenic two hour ride around Bartow County and north Georgia.

“Each year the riders and attendees have increased along with the donated funds. It’s a heartwarming experience and everyone is welcomed to attend. It is all about the kids!” said Pam Anderson, coordinator of the Ride for the Iron Order Motorcycle Club.

The ride concluded at Harley Davidson of Cartersville, where a daylong celebration took place including food, music, adult beverages, a live auction, raffle and contests. A 2003 100th Anniversary Harley Davidson 883 Sportster was raffled off during the event. The Sportster was won by Donald Serzant, a motorcycle enthusiast who owned several motorcycles but had never owned a Harley Davidson until now. There was also a 50/50 raffle with over $200.00 in winnings that was donated back to the Shelter by the very generous winner, Judy Chastain (see photo).
Pat Chastain, left, 50/50 raffle winner donated her winnings back to the Flowering Branch Children's Shelter.

All the proceeds from the ride go directly to sponsor summer and extracurricular activities for the children of Advocates’ Flowering Branch Children’s Shelter. “The Iron Order Motorcycle Club has been dedicated to making things better for Flowering Branch residents for many years.  This ride and all the activities around it are a tangible way for them to provide funds so that our kids can have the summer fun that all kids want and deserve.  It pays for camps, lifeguards for outings to the lake, snacks at the pool, and even a couple of trips to amusement parks.  We continue to be so grateful”, said Patty Eagar, Executive Director of Advocates for Children.
