CARTERSVILLE, GA - 2024 promises to be an exhilarating year at the museum as we unveil our star-studded lineup of feature movies. As a part of our carefully curated programming, Savoy is proud to present Movies at the Museum, featuring 12 films, each selected for its connection to car culture. Whether you're planning a charming date night or a delightful family-friendly outing, we extend an invitation for you to join us for these cinematic experiences.
According to Executive Director Macra Adair, "We took the opportunity to create an immersive experience by pairing movies with select exhibits throughout the year." Here is a sneak peek of some of the pairings:
- The movie "Heart Like a Wheel," which explores the life of race car driver, Shirley Mudlowney, is paired with the upcoming exhibit Women in Motorsports, which features one of Shirley's actual vehicles.
- Actual cars from "Rain Man" (1949 Buick Roadmaster Convertible), "American Graffiti" (1958 Chevrolet Impala), "Vanishing Point" (1970 Dodge Challenger), and "The Great Race" (1965 Leslie Special) will take center stage in the exhibit, Movie Cars & Cars of the Stars.
- The movie "Driven" pairs nicely with our exhibits showcasing cars from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum.
- "Need for Speed" holds both a local connection since part of it was filmed in Bartow County and pairs nicely with the High-Performance Sportscar exhibit opening the latter part of the year.
What makes this cinematic journey even more special is that admission to the movie is included with admission to the museum and, of course, is always complimentary for our valued members. So, make it a day to remember – arrive early, explore the museum's fascinating exhibits, and treat yourself to a delightful meal at the Savoy Café. Then, settle into your seat and get ready for the excitement to unfold on the big screen.
