CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA - The Savoy Automobile Museum announces The Connection car show is back on November 11, 2023, and it's bigger. Start your engines and mark your calendars for a day of automotive excitement! This open classification car show will bring car enthusiasts of all ages together to share their passion for automobiles, exchange stories, and develop their appreciation for the vehicles and what they represent. New this year, vehicles will be classified into three categories, pre-1950 cars,1950 to present, and trucks.
Being Veteran’s Day, we see this as an opportunity not only to revel in our shared passion but also to honor the brave men and women who have served our nation with unparalleled valor. Amidst the roar of engines and the camaraderie of fellow car enthusiasts, we will take time to reflect on the sacrifices of our veterans. In partnership with The United States of America Vietnam War Commemoration, Veterans who served at any time on active duty in the US Armed Forces. regardless of location, during the period of November 1, 1955, to May 15, 1975, are invited to be recognized and receive one Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin. For a qualifying deceased veteran, a family member is invited to receive a Vietnam Veteran Lapel Pin. To participate as a veteran or a family member, individuals must register for an online ticket. Individuals can register through November 9, 2023, at savoymuseum.org. In addition, all veterans will be recognized at 11:45 am followed by a flyover at noon. Past military vehicles will also be on display in honor of Veteran's Day.
Another new addition this show is the kid's zone where young car enthusiasts (kids aged 12 and under) are invited to dive into the excitement. Kids 12 and under can participate in a "Make & Take" by Atlanta Car Model Enthusiasts, bring their PowerWheels, Big Wheels, Hot Wheels, or pedal car for a Kiddie Kruise-in, Touch-A-Truck, and play on a Monster Truck Bounce and Slide and Inflatable Obstacle Course.
Inside the museum, visitors can take in the following exhibits, which will be available on the day of the car show, the Savoy Collection, The Evolution of Bigfoot, Forged by Fuller, Renderings – Advanced Drawings of Wayne Kady GM Designer, and Streamlined Elegance - The Tatra Tale.
Breakfast and lunch will be available on the property. The Savoy Cafe will offer multiple $10 selections. Additional lunch options from Nagel's Bagels, Cheez'd and Confuzed, Fork & Spoon, The Mule House, Choate BBQ, and The Sloppy Skillet will be offered. These options will provide a diverse and delicious selection to satisfy lunchtime cravings. Visitors looking for dessert can indulge in delectable treats from The Cereal Lab and HotRod Popcorn. These dessert options will add a delightful finish to a meal.
Wrapping up the day, an awards ceremony will occur on the showgrounds at 3:00 pm. This show the museum will offer nine People's Choice Awards and one Savoy's Choice Award. Visitors will have the opportunity to vote on their favorite vehicles.
Before leaving, visitors can purchase one of the custom-designed shirts to commemorate the day and show their support for the museum. The Connection promises to be an exciting event for car enthusiasts and the community. The rain date for this event is Saturday, November 18, 2023. In the event of a postponement of the show, the Vietnam War Commemoration will still occur on November 11.
