The Department:
The School of Education offers bachelor’s degrees in the following: Elementary Education, Special Education/General Curriculum, Middle Grades Education, History Education, and Math Education. Graduate degrees offered are MAT: Pedagogy and M.Ed. Curriculum & Instruction. Two endorsements are also available: Dyslexia and ESOL. The School of Education has a solid reputation and has been recognized as the top teacher preparation program in the state.
Job Summary:
The Shorter University School of Education invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position with a start date of August 2024.
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, online and traditional, primarily teaching elementary education classes with a strong literacy emphasis. The successful candidate should have credentials related to elementary education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Practical experience, as a teacher and administrator, is also preferred for individuals who can convey experiences into the classroom model. This individual will be a key constituent in the community and be involved in local school partnerships.
Required Qualifications/Experience:
- Minimum Graduate Degree in Education
- Statement of Faith

Preferred Qualifications/Experience:
- Doctoral Degree in Elementary Education or related field
- Practical work experience that will elevate academic instruction in the classroom.
- Experience in undergraduate and graduate teaching at the college level.
- Experience with online teaching, preferably in the Canvas learning management system
- Advising college students through their degree plan to graduation
- Knowledge of GaPSC program approval process
