    Department Information

     

    This is a position of trust.

     

    This position has direct supervision for student assistants as needed.

     

    The complexity of work is at an Expert level:

     

    • The work consists of varied library duties. The high volume of students using the libraries contributes to the complexity of the position.

    • The purpose of this position is to provide library services to students, faculty, staff, and other library patrons. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of library operations.

     

    Some driving for the college between campus will be required.

     

    The position reports to the Director of Libraries.

     

    Work is assigned through general instructions with periodic review through conferences, reports, and observations

     

    Job Summary

     

    This 12-month tenure-track faculty position is responsible for providing information literacy instruction, reference services, and comprehensive library operations at Georgia Highlands College (GHC) Libraries.

     

    This is an on-site only position.

     

    This position will engage in teaching/librarianship, service, research, and scholarship while adhering to library faculty expectations.

     

    Responsibilities

     

    Is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the college's mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies

     

    Teaching/Librarianship

     

    • Delivers information literacy instruction through one-shot sessions, embedded courses, and for-credit classes

    • Provides reference and user services face-to-face and virtually to students, faculty, staff, and community members

    • Promotes library services and college programs to students, faculty, staff, and community members through outreach and marketing initiatives

    • Participates in the library liaison program serving as primary contact for assigned academic schools

    • Assists with student advising activities

    • Maintains the currency and relevancy of library collections identifying areas for development aligned with institutional needs

    • Locates and creates digital content supporting instruction and curricular initiatives

    • Provides technical support for library and college-wide technologies and systems

    • Participates in institutional and community initiatives including library committees, consortia work, college committees, search processes, assessment activities, and faculty governance

    • Collects and analyzes statistics regarding GHC library usage

     

    Scholarship/Professional Development

     

    • Stays current with trends and scholarship in library science, teaching and learning, and higher education

    • Evaluates and recommends emerging technologies for library programs and service

    • Contributes actively to learning and teaching communities at GHC and within the profession

     

    Required Qualifications

     

    • A master's degree accredited by the American Library Association is required

    • Experience or educational preparation in archives

    • Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

     

    Proposed Salary

     

    Salary range is $48000 - $50,000.

     

    This is a fully benefitted position.
